Main streets are the heartbeat of regional towns and the Tarzia Liberal team has a plan to keep them beating strong.<\/p>

The Liberal team has announced their policy to establish a $12 million \u2018Main Street Activation Fund\u2019 for regional councils to use on initiatives that support a thriving business and social community in their town.<\/p>

Leader of the Opposition, Vincent Tarzia, said the fund is designed to be used for projects that energise main streets across regional South Australia.<\/p>

\u201cA thriving main street is an essential part of every community and we\u2019re proud to support locals with ideas to create excitement in their towns,\u201d Mr Tarzia said.<\/p>

\u201cThis could include upgrades to building facades, putting on pop-up events, investment in street-art, more outdoor dining spaces or activating empty shopfronts.\u201d<\/p>

Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Member for Heysen, Josh Teague said it\u2019s an initiative that would energise many towns in his local community.<\/p>

\u201cWhen I think of the towns in my own electorate, the main street is a beloved place where we come together in good times and in bad, making them a vital investment,\u201d Mr Teague said.<\/p>

\u201cA bustling main street not only fosters community pride but also stimulates the local economy by attracting visitors and supporting small businesses.<\/p>

\u201cA dedicated activation fund empowers local councils to preserve the unique character of our towns while promoting sustainability and accessibility for all residents.<\/p>

\u201cThis fund could help towns through events outside their control – for example, it could have been beneficial in our local community following the devastating fire in our main shopping complex.<\/p>

\u201cWith school holidays upon us, I encourage all South Australians to head to a regional town and support the main street economy.\u201d<\/p>

This investment is costed at $3 million a year over four years, with eligible councils able to apply for a competitive tender process for grants of up to $500,000 each.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t
