This now places Adelaide as more unaffordable than Los Angeles,\u00a0London\u00a0and Vancouver.\u00a0<\/p><p>This comes as data revealed by the Valuer General just\u00a0this\u00a0week shows metropolitan house prices rising\u00a0in Adelaide\u00a0by over 13% since July.\u00a0<\/p><p>Shadow Housing Minister, Josh Teague,\u00a0said this report should be a concern for first home buyers wanting to enter the market.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cWhat this report shows is the\u00a0 housing market in Adelaide is impossibly unaffordable for first home buyers,\u201d\u00a0Mr Teague said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cAdelaide used to be the most affordable place in the country to buy a house\u00a0\u2013\u00a0now we are more unaffordable than major international cities like London and New York.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cWhen this report was released in 2022 Adelaide ranked 14th. Now we are the fourth least affordable. Labor\u2019s plan to fix the housing crisis is simply just not working.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cLabor\u2019s plan has been to push first home buyers, downsizers and now investors all into new builds, creating even more demand in a constrained segment of the housing market,\u201d\u00a0Mr Teague\u00a0 said.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cThe government has\u00a0benefited\u00a0from record stamp duty revenue windfall to the tune of $1 billion over the last four years &#8211;\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0no wonder that they want to see house prices go up.
