First home buyers who excitedly signed up for allotments at the Playford Alive precinct in Munno Para\u00a0say\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0now been\u00a0informed of a seven-month delay to their settlement.\u00a0<\/p>

A letter obtained by the State Liberals says timelines have now been\u00a0\u201cupdated,\u201d\u00a0with civil works to be completed\u00a0in July 2027 and settlement in August 2027.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Jim Haldane, the father of one purchaser, said settlement was originally promised for January\u00a0 2027.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cMy daughter\u2019s fixed price house contract is now void and she will pay more for the\u00a0house\u00a0and\u00a0simply can\u2019t afford\u00a0additional rent until land becomes available,\u201d\u00a0Mr Haldane said.\u00a0<\/p>

Shadow Minister for Housing and Planning Josh Teague said the delay raises\u00a0serious questions\u00a0around the Malinauskas Labor Government\u2019s many land releases.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cI\u2019ve lost count of how many land release announcements\u00a0the Premier\u00a0has made\u00a0\u2013\u00a0well how about announcing vital water and sewerage works so the families buying land can actually build a home?\u201d\u00a0he asked.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThis\u00a0Government is addicted\u00a0 to\u00a0opening up\u00a0new land for housing, but\u00a0we\u2019d\u00a0like to know how many new homes have\u00a0actually been\u00a0completed.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cAdelaide is trapped in a planning debacle from Mt Barker to Munno Para and everywhere in between\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and it\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0be fixed by selling more land that people\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0build on.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe people\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0spoken to expected to settle and start building their homes by\u00a0January, but\u00a0now face another seven months or more before they can even get access to their land because\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0no infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe precinct in question has more than 150 lots. Each of those families now faces paying extra rent for who\u00a0 knows how long. They\u00a0could also\u00a0lose\u00a0the benefit of their fixed price contracts.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

The questions come as\u00a0Adelaide cemented its position as one of the least affordable\u00a0cities in the world to buy a home.\u00a0<\/p>

The latest\u00a0Domain House Price Report\u00a0shows Adelaide bucking the national downward trend with\u00a0the average price reaching a record $1.125m\u00a0\u2013\u00a0up 4.8% in the quarter to June this year.\u00a0<\/p>

The Labor Government is also well behind the construction targets set under the National Housing\u00a0Accord.\u00a0<\/p>
