The Malinauskas Labor Government must end years of uncertainty by finally\u00a0making a decision\u00a0about the future of the long-awaited Greater Adelaide Freight Bypass.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

During the 2025 Federal Election campaign, the State and Federal Liberals pledged a combined $1.05 billion to fully fund the project, but there has been no such commitment from\u00a0 Labor.\u00a0<\/p>

State Liberal Leader Ashton Hurn said it is time for the Prime Minister and Premier to provide clarity on this project.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThere are countless businesses and residents who can\u2019t make decisions about their future until they know what is happening with this proposal,\u201d\u00a0Mrs\u00a0Hurn said.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cWe would like to see works commence as soon as possible so that we can make our roads safer and keep South Australia moving.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

Shadow Minister for Regional Roads Sam Telfer said the project is critical for the long-term safety and productivity of South\u00a0 Australia\u2019s freight network.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe Malinauskas government must finally come clean about where the bypass fits on its list of priorities,\u201d\u00a0Mr\u00a0Telfer said.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe Premier should be going into bat for South Australia and\u00a0convincing his\u00a0Labor colleagues in Canberra to do what is right for our state.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cBusinesses\u00a0and truck operators deserve certainty. The State Government needs to clearly\u00a0state\u00a0whether it supports this project or intends to walk away from it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

Member for Heysen Josh Teague said the bypass would take trucks off\u00a0 the\u00a0South Eastern\u00a0Freeway and make a real difference for Adelaide Hills families and commuters.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cFor too long, Hills residents have lived with the daily\u00a0impacts\u00a0of heavy freight moving through local communities and down the freeway,\u201d\u00a0Mr\u00a0Teague\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThe Greater Adelaide Freight Bypass is a practical solution that would improve safety, reduce\u00a0congestion\u00a0and better connect freight movements across our state.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cLabor is asleep at the wheel when it comes to this project and the people\u00a0impacted\u00a0have had a\u00a0gutful.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

The Greater Adelaide Freight Bypass would achieve the following:<\/p>

  • Shift heavy freight off metropolitan roads, cutting truck traffic on corridors such as Cross and Portrush Roads\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    • Take interstate trucks off the\u00a0South Eastern\u00a0Freeway descent, improving safety for Hills commuters\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      • Create a dedicated freight link between the\u00a0South Eastern\u00a0Freeway and the Sturt Highway\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

        • Deliver the Truro township bypass, removing heavy vehicles from the main street\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

          • Duplicate\u00a0 the\u00a0Swanport\u00a0Bridge to improve capacity,\u00a0safety\u00a0and network resilience\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

            • Reduce congestion and improve travel time for motorists and freight operators<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t
